This book is very good. Darker than I expected, so definitely check out the content warnings. But I loved it. The pace was perfect, the world was so exciting to discover, and the entire cast of characters were amazing. And also just a fantastically diverse book where those diversities are, for the most part, considered normal. Topped off with some brilliantly done allegory. Very good, highly recommend.

Edit: Even better on a reread! You can see everything Jemisin has already set up for the rest of the trilogy. Brilliant.
