Overall i liked both characters and enjoyed the story. There was a lot of backstory and character building especially with Royal. With that being said the book is definitely more contemporary with a dash or so of romance.

Both characters going through heart break and the author showing how different they came out of those situations was a nice touch. If we’re being honest some people don’t bounce right back and hurt so much they really end up hurting themselves. On the other hand Jewry was able to maintain her beautiful spirit. So i can appreciate the author showing that.

At that point, like half way through, i felt the book should have been a longer story. At least 150-200 pages. I wanted more of their story together and to see how the author would build it. I really forgot it was a Valentine’s Day story. Outside of that Jewry was doing a good job at helping Royal overcome his ways of being so emotionally scarred. Sometimes it really takes that one person to make a difference in your life.

Lastly, with the ex’s still reaching out for the past two years and then BOOM they show up in person is crazy. We should have gotten a glimpse of what has been going on in their lives for them to still want to reach out and bother Royal and Jewry. In all honesty they didn’t need to be mentioned again after the breakups if we weren't going to get more of their stories. Those pages could have been spent on building Royal and Jewry’s relationship more.

P. S. When Royal kicked them out that thang had me rolling. Lmao.
