Easily the best book I've read in a long time. Not usually my genre, but I was always thinking about it when I wasn't reading it, and it was hard to put it down to get back to real life. I related to Sam in a lot of painful ways, mostly due to the way he tends to create his own misery. Sadie's struggles were fascinating to me, because she had an equally big ego that created problems for her, but I found her so much more sympathetic because a big part of her pain was due to patriarchy.

The two parts that deviated from the established perspective both made me cry. The 3rd person omniscient perspective was done brilliantly, only ever exerting the omniscience to hop into another character's shoes for a moment, enough to paint a fuller picture but not enough to make it tedious to read.

A great examination of art and work, disability, sexism, diversity, and gaming. I can see why the whole world wouldn't shut up about this book, because I can't, either.
