I don’t think that this author’s style and plots are my cup of tea. This is the second novel of his that I’ve read, and I’m more and more convinced that his books really aren’t for me. I really didn’t like the protagonist (he feels a bit flat and doesn’t develop much) or the plot of this one - it takes forever to get to the climax (which is way too abrupt and ends way too abrupt) and then takes forever to finish. I could do without 20-something pages describing a squash game or 50 pages of flashbacks about patients and surgeries that do not appear to be relevant within the rest of the novel. I did like the historical aspects (the setting and the event happening), but that was about it.
