No Longer Human
by Osamu Dazai
Bleak, melancholic, and heartbreaking yet charming, refreshing and tnough-provoking. There's something deeply moving and freeing about reading Yoza's unfiltered thoughts. For someone that felt alienated from the world around him, Dazai is able to make you empathize with the narrator (and himself) completely, without resorting to any sentimentalities. Maybe feeling so isolated to the point of believing you are no longer human is the most deeply human experience of them all.
