I actually kind of hated this book, but I finished it anyway. There are just too many ridiculously outlandish details, especially with the Cherry character. Things like the taxidermy rodents just annoyed me. A lot of the writing meant to reflect religious awe also felt very flat. I appreciate the theme of motherhood, but I just couldn’t really get into the writing style of this one.
