Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

“In any case, I wasn’t prepared for the truth of you.”

I was not prepared for this book. It had been on my list and as I was randomly walking through the library I saw it face up on the shelf. I love it when the library almost spotlights a book for me and I have no choice in the matter.

I wasn’t immediately attached to Luc but Oliver jumped off the page into my heart. What I loved most about this book is all the feels it created. I laughed out loud throughout the book which is rare because humor is so subjective but this one was perfectly up my alley. I can’t remember the exact context of the exchange but it was something along the lines of “it’s a political dick’ made my whole night as I was finishing up.

Boyfriend Material tells the story of the push/pull of falling for someone while dealing with your own emotional baggage. Trying to find that balance of project vs protect. I loved watching it unfold because they both had very different journeys; Luc to protect his heart and Oliver to project himself. I adored this book.
