More Than Words by Jill Santopolo was an emotional read. I really felt connected to the main character, but I do wish that the story dove a little deeper into her relationships with some of the other characters. I liked the other characters, but I didn’t feel attached to any of them in the same way I felt with Nina. Otherwise, I found the story line enjoyable, even though it was simple. The structure allowed the true message of finding oneself among expectations and pressure to come through wholeheartedly and I really enjoyed the message of the book. I thought that this book was really beautifully written, and I loved the short chapters. I think it helped a lot with the pacing, especially for such heavy emotions. Overall, this is one of the better contemporary novels I’ve read as of late, and though it had its emotional moments, ended being a pretty feel-good read.
