The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend
by Kody Keplinger
I enjoyed this book well enough, but found myself unable to fully get into it. There was nothing particularly wrong with the writing or characters; I just felt the story was a little young for me--but not at all in a bad way. (Gah I feel old admitting this!) I just didn't feel I connected with the characters or their trials as much as I should have.
That being said, I found Bianca's confidence and general "screw you" attitude to be refreshing for a heroine. She didn't take crap from anyone, which is what Wesley liked about her. Casey seemed a bit like a control-freak, overbearing friend sometimes but she meant well. Jessica was so hard not to like because of her constant bubbliness. I really liked the resolution that happened between Toby and Bianca at the end All in all, a semi-light read (what with everything Bianca's parents put her through) to use as a filler between your must-read novels.
