Where They Found Her
by Kimberly McCreight
Any book that makes me audibly gasp gets 5 stars. Telling you when and why would be too much of a spoiler, so we'll just leave it at that.
The story starts with the discovery of the dead body of a newborn and newspaper reporter Molly who will be covering the story, which her husband and some friends think may be difficult for her because she recently lost a baby.
The story is told from Molly's point of view, as well as that of a practically homeless teenager whose mother is missing, and a woman who has some family problems of her own. McCreight brings these characters and several others together in some surprising, interesting ways.
I would love to tell you more, but I'm afraid I'd give too much away and ruin the fun for you. I know it's strange to say a story about a dead baby is "fun," but the joy in this case comes from McCreight's expert story-telling.
