The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
2.0

I'm not quite sure what to say about The Witch Hunter. The idea is unique. There aren't a lot of stories about hunting down witches that I'm aware of (other than the new Hansel and Gretel movie). It's well written and many will enjoy this tough young woman's struggle. From being condemned by her own to trying to prove her loyalty to questioning whether it was misplaced to begin with, Elizabeth Grey has a lot to deal with, all while hiding from her old friends and trying to complete a new mission for the most powerful wizard in the kingdom, Nicholas Perevil. Any other day, Elizabeth would have arrested him but now Nicholas is her only hope of escape.

Elizabeth herself is nuanced. Victimized, vulnerable when it comes to friends, yet very capable and willing to beat the crap out of creatures beyond her in strength and power, she's interesting to read.

Unfortunately, the overall story does not distinguish itself from others of its kind. Tougher-than-average, beautiful young woman is pulled into a conflict without knowing why and ends up saving the day. Falls in love along the way. I've read enough of these, but many others will love it.
