The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman
4.0

I received this book for free from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.

When I first read the Magicians I was sucked into this world and I was quite engaged in the writing, but I just could not like the main character. He was completely self-involved and a giant tool. As I stated before he was much too like Holden Caulfield. In this book Quentin is a different man. Life has changed him and he can see a much larger picture and doesn’t worry so much about himself and why he isn’t happy.

The book continues the great level of snarky and witty comments from the other books and it begins to tie in all of the random threads that had been lying about. To me this was probably the best book of the series. The characters have been more fully developed and the stakes have gotten even higher. You are allowed to revisit some of the places from the past books, but the experiences there are completely different. If you enjoyed the first two books in the series you are going to love this one. It takes what was enjoyable about the first two and it improves on it.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
