Happy Place by Emily Henry

4.0

I am still in my "processing" stage of this book, so I may come back and change my rating.. but overall is this a good book? Yes it is. Was I annoyed, frustrated, and wanted to slam my head against the wall? Also... yes.

The miscommunication trope can be sooooo annoying and it was in this book. I just wanted Harriet and Wyn to freaking say what they were actually feeling vs skirting around it for 80% of the book.... NOW don't get me wrong I love tension and we get plenty of that in this book, but at some point you have got to let that love shine through baby.

I really liked the friend group and they also had this HUGE miscommunication thing going on... well maybe it was just zero communication, but still. I liked their dynamic and I wanted to have a house I could go to with my friends and make wonderful memories with too.

SO I am still feeling conflicted on what I would truly rate this.. but the biggest surprise to me was how much I resonated with Wyn's story. I RARELY really connect with an MMC's life, thoughts, feelings etc and man it really hit me how much I could relate. I have always felt boring and that's one reason I can't really hold onto friendships or maybe why people don't stick around like I want them to(hi trauma, is that you knocking on the door?) and sooo... once again I am in wonderment at how Emily Henry could know to put these emotions in this book amongst so much laugher.
