Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

4.0

i don’t have as much to say about this because i’ve read it before but, man, even a second time through this book really hits. it’s dark and gritty and the multiple perspectives really enhances the impact of the story. libby’s perspective is written in a very fun, quick-witted way that makes the book snappy and interesting. a few times i did have to slide the book away from me because it was too disturbing. gillian flynn has and always will have my heart. this book was my first ever gillian flynn book and it was such a fun reread! i do think though that the murders being pinned (almost entirely save for michelle) on some random criminal mentioned off-handedly was a little annoying. there was such a wide cast of characters to choose from that had reason to commit the murders and… i guess that’s the point but i just feel like it was a little bit un-creative. or too creative. though, all of the build up is totally worth it and all of the character explorations between the perspectives is what makes the book.
