Deep End

I inhaled this book in less than 12 hours. It perfectly captured the layered experience of being an NCAA athlete — from the mental blocks that can derail performance, to the psychology of self-worth, to the unique dynamics of a college athlete romance. Why does it always feel like Ali Hazelwood is secretly writing a chapter of my life?
The relationship between Lukas and Scarlett was a highlight for me. I loved how their chemistry was paired with an authentic, straightforward representation of kinks — handled with simplicity, respect, and an emphasis on trust and consent. It felt natural and never forced.
One thing I consistently appreciate about Hazelwood’s writing is her tendency to skip the overblown, dramatic third-act breakup. Instead of a one-sided “I messed up” moment, she gives us genuine growth on all sides, allowing her characters to evolve together rather than apart.
This was heartfelt, spicy, and addictive — the kind of book you close with a satisfied sigh and a slight ache that it’s over.
