Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
4.0

Hmmm...I'm debating between four stars or three. But I guess four because Cynthia Hand goes to some pretty extreme places in this book. Places that are practically unheard of in YA.

The main thing that bothered me in this book?
SpoilerPeople don't just GET INTO STANFORD. No matter how high their GPA is. Oh, and when you get college mail, you know by the envelope, you don't have to actually open the letter. I guess it was weird for me to see that Clara was so chill over the whole college thing (which shouldn't be surprising since she's got time to go to college), but it's hard for me to relate since I'm in the midst of freaking out about college.
Sometimes the prose gets a little hard to swallow.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I loved the love triangle in this book. I know. I'm in shock. But the way it plays out makes complete sense! It had a purpose (!) other than making teenage girls swoon with doses of double hotness. Why can't all book series be like this?!
SpoilerOkay, so I wasn't really a die-hard Tucker fan from the beginning. Maybe that's why I love the resolution? I just felt like Tucker, despite the charming, lovable gentleman that he is, wouldn't be able to understand Clara completely, no matter how hard he tries.
