This was a reread and I’m SO glad I did.
This book did contain some moments of cardan and Jude’s lil enemies to lovers closed door romance, but the entire book was based off of the political plot. I absolutely LOVED reading the political twist and everything that was happening, it made me feel like I was right there actually seeing it happen??! Otherwise y’all know that most books that are a little too political gets boring for me but holly wrote it all SO good I kept turning the pages and it never made me want to stop. Each chapter started with a catch phrase that’d make you want to read it further, and if you’re someone who likes to read fantasy books with the PERFECT amount of romance, and the perfect amount of politics, then this book is for you!! I did feel like at some moments where I didn’t understand some political sayings/philosophy but otherwise the whole plot is easy to understand.
Now about the ending— as I had already read this book before and I knew about the MAIN plot twist of the book, the ending obviously didnt shock me. But if you were to ask 2023 me I’d say this was the most unexpected ending or a twist I had never expected!!
Overall, I loved reading this book and I wish I can read this for the first time again.
