Gorgeous Monster by Charity Ferrell

5.0

When I first started reading this, I wasn't sure if this book was for me. It was the whole best friend's dad trope that had me so unsure. Then I got reading and I was totally sucked in! A sexy mafia romance with a lot of spice. I love Charity's writing style and the humour that she injects into the story. Natalia was witty and ballsy. Christian was a psycho mafia boss intent on not falling for Natalia and for their marriage to be purely transactional, a way to keep her safe. I loved Natalia! She was cocky and didn't take any of Cristian's crap when he was being a dick to her. He really frustrated me at times, like this part here:

"“My men are staring at you.” I jerk forward when my sunglasses are ripped off my face. Adjusting my eyes, I find Cristian standing at my side. His head is bowed as he icily stares at me, as if I’d dropped all his bar carts off at Goodwill. “So are you.” I retrieve my sunglasses, shove them back onto my face, and dramatically recline back into the lounge chair."

Because she was wearing a bikini! Like, come on dude, how is that her fault? Go tell them to stop staring at her then!

As frustrating as he could be, bit by bit, I warmed up to Cristian. He had some redeeming qualities and I loved how fiercely protective he became of Natalia and how fiercely he loved her.

This was a brilliant read! A mafia romance is happily read again!
