A Pocket of Lies by R.A. Sandpiper
5.0

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Where do I even start...

I enjoyed this book so much because the enemies are actual enemies that want to kill each other, and it is not mild dislike, or like someone called it “unrequited” enemies, where one has to ask themselves if one of those characters is aware of the fact they're enemies.

The main character is apparently supposed to be unlikeable, and I don't know what it says about me because I found Suri likeable, maybe even relatable at times.

I also enjoyed that the slow-burn was actually slow. You could tell something was there, but... was it, really? The romance is also a subplot, which is another thing I liked.

There were twists and turns I didn't see coming, and I was surprised by some turn of events more than once. At one point, I was just waiting for one scene to take a turn because surely the author wouldn't do that. Spoiler alert: she would.

Overall, I loved this book, and I can't wait for the next one.
