2023 Reread: bumping this from 3 to 5 stars. While most of what I said below still applies, I fucking loved this the second time around. I can’t believe I said I wasn’t gonna continue the series 💀
Ugh. Could have been a Wattpad story it has such little depth and so much drama.
Guys. This series made me so mad. If they hadn’t been quick audiobook listens I wouldn’t have even finished book one. This is something that high school Cheyenne would have read and loved on a platform like Wattpad: terrible unlikeable characters, mounds of pointless drama/fights, repetitive writing. The ONLY thing I enjoy about the books is the spooky elements, those are really well done. But it’s not enough to propel a story for this long. Especially one that’s supposed to be a romance. I could go on and on and rage about some really questionable content here (and you can DM me if you’re not afraid of spoilers), and while I enjoyed listening in the moment the more I sit on it the more I just can’t see myself continuing the series
