Enemies with Benefits by Annika Martin, Joanna Chambers

Most important things first, this wasn't a finished story but an extended preview of Enemies Like Us, which I missed when I picked this up, anyway.

This involves two men seeking revenge on the same man, while one (Will) wants to take a direct approach aka wanting to get rid of him at a party, the other (Kit) has a more subtle plan in the long haul and is working as the man's bodyguard to get close to him first (and currently posing as his girlfriend).
There some crossdressing involved and well, when that's sprung on you, let's say I wasn't immediately as on board with it as Will was.
But that aside, I already took a liking to Kit, maybe because the androgynous, calculating, potentially dommy blond reminded me a bit of Laurent from Captive Prince. Also this who enemies to lovers with them being assassins/spies is very much up my alley.
That being said, I'm still a bit hestitant if I will read the full story, because I have read one book each by the authors, one was a straight up DNF for me bc the story was ridiculous and the other is still in process or like, started to read a couple months ago but not finished yet. With that in mind, this was better than expected but not a masterpiece. Idk, I need to mull it over if I will continue reading this story in the full novel.
