Pretty Little Liars
by Sara Shepard
A quick, fun, guilty pleasure through and through, similar to reading People magazine. The New Yorker may have more "substance," but I'll take reading about the latest celeb romance gone sour over a ten-page narrative about a guy and the philosophical implications he finds at the bottom of his coffee cup.
Sara Shepard will probably never be counted in the ranks of Dickins or Proust, but she doesn't try to be, and for that, I can accept it. PLL is what it is and doesn't attempt anything more. 3/5 pretty little stars.
