Whip smart and extraordinarily practical, Ivory is an excellent fixer and was called in to deal with a dead body and save the reputation of a debutant. The brother, Max,  who is the both duke and pirate, arrives unexpectedly at the scene.  His incredulity drives the story, adventure, and banter. It’s a delight. The second half was a different book than the first half. I can’t explain it. More action but a slower pace? Then the last 20% pivoted to become sweet. The good news is the the last scenes leaned back into the romp-style and characters from the beginning
