My favorite kind of horror functions as a deep dive into being human, with layered characters and complex problems that take more focus than the actual monsters do—and that’s exactly what this book does. The story centers on a family weighed down by generational trauma where the horror embodies everything they can't quite face head-on.
It does get a little convoluted at times, but overall, it felt like reading something both unsettling and cathartic—like therapy with more ghosts. I’m really excited to see what this new voice in horror does next.
