House of Pounding Hearts
by Olivia Wildenstein
frustrating but immersive
Man, Fallon wound me up a lot. Her stubbornness did nothing to help her situation or endear her to me. Digging her heels in because of her own skewed views of how things were or should be, even when she could plainly see that she was wrong, was just bullheaded idiocy. And why did she keep softening to Dante when he was the one constantly screwing her over, and yet she held a grudge like no other against Lore because he kept some secrets to protect her/him/his people????
Stop making assumptions Fallon!! You don’t like it when people do that about you!!!
And then when several people were acting all kinds of shady, she didn’t even think to question it beyond a passing comment here and there.
Truly it took about 80% of the book for me to stop despising her every decision.
And yet I could not put the book down. Which is a feat of great writing when you borderline hate the main character for the majority of the story!
Lore didn’t really help the situation by being so secretive and evasive.
But thank Morrigan for when they finally got together. That was hot.
Another cliffhanger ending but the next book isn’t out til June! Gaahhhh. Woe is me.
