A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
"to the people who look at the stars and wish, rhys."
"to the stars who listen — and the dreams that are answered."
let me preface this by saying that i didn't like the first book. BUT ACOMAF. OH MY GOD. I LOVED THIS SO SOOO MUCH. i don’t even know where to start AAAAAAAAAA
i loved it so much to the point that i couldn’t even function like a normal human being while reading it 😭 it’s like i just refuse to go back to my real life & i just want to stay in their world. and when i tell you i couldn’t function, i really couldn’t. i barely touched my thesis for a whole week bc i just wanted to read & while im on my internship i couldn’t focus & i kept hoping that they won’t give us anything to do so i could read secretly ijbol AHDJFJHFGH so i knew i had to finish it fast before it makes even more damage to my life. it’s just that good & all-consuming what the fawk T___T
FEYSAND 😭 their love was so so beautiful that i even want to scream & cry just by thinking abt their story. two broken souls who have suffered so much bc of the cruelty of the world — healing each other & healing together. i have consumed so many pieces of media that involved this story line, but this was one of the few that consumed & devoured me. feyre & rhysand — they were a perfect match. they are the definition of the invisible string theory. the fact that rhys could see feyre in his dreams, and he was the one who sent the image of the night sky that feyre painted in her drawer ?!! it made me want to bawl during the cave scene when feyre told rhys abt her drawer and when rhys realized that she received the image of joy that he sent 🥹 i love how their story progressed so naturally, so beautifully. the events leading to chapters 54-55 were CHEFS KISS. from the throne room, starfall, feysand in the illyrian steppes, one bed trope at the inn, rhysand’s ambush, feyre’s encounter with the suriel... AMAZING. those chapters made me stay up until my eyes were giving up on me & my father saw me still wide awake at 5 freaking am 😭
this story is about love. other than the love portrayed between feysand, i also like how majority of the book focused on feyre’s healing and self-love. it was a delight seeing her learn how to fight for herself, grow bigger than the pain she experienced, and freely make a choice for her self-discovery & growth. i think this played a crucial role in allowing herself to feel that real & genuine love rhysand & the inner circle has for her. i love found family so so much 😭🤍 from feyre feeling hesitant to meet them at the beginning of the book to her sacrificing and protecting them at the end 🥹 i love how she finally found her people. people she’s willing to sacrifice for & protect — people who would do the same thing for her. people who appreciates her love & embraces her for who she is.
this story is for the dreamers, for those who dream of love and light and peace. for those who have been swallowed by the darkness for too long, but still crave & fight for the genuine desires of their hearts. for those who know how hard it is to fight for those dreams, but powers through despite it all. for the people who look at the stars and wish 🤍🌠
i feel like i left my heart in velaris, and there’s this hollow feeling inside my chest that tells me that it’s always going to be there. it’s been days since i finished it but i still think about it all the time. how this book made me feel. and i think it’s going to take a long time before i find another story that would make me feel the same way this book did. if there ever will be, actually. ily feyre & rhysand & the inner circle, u will always have my heart. i hope there will always be stars who will listen to your dreams & answer them. and i hope that there will be stars who will listen & answer to mine as well.
