I really liked this series, I've loved The Giver since I was young and it was so exciting to realize there were sequels. I love the characters and although the plotlines are simple the details are always enjoyable. I started to suspect towards the end of this one, though, that there might be some kind of euphamism at work here...the Trademaster as the Devil (or Evil as he is described), and the trades he offers as temptations from the Devil? Then if you resist and defeat him, you get to heaven? Oh well, either way, these books make me feel good and they have a special place in my heart.
