This is one of the most well-written, unique, and gripping books I've ever read. It's impossible to describe—It's very meta and a little abstract. Summer Fun details the intergenerational trans experience so vividly that I felt violently protective over our protagonists. I would die for our girls. I was so emotionally invested and awed by the writing I had a hard time putting it down, while also trying to prolong the experience, and I was able to extend the days I had with Diane and Gala. Summer Fun is also very much about The Beach Boys (though the band is named the "Get Happies" in the book) and when I started this book, I didn't care about The Beach Boys at all and now I am listening to a Beach Boys podcast?! Jeanne Thornton's POWER!!!!!
