When Violet, a healing witch, turned sixteen years old, she made a pact with her best friend, Silas, a wolf shifter, that they would get married if they were both still single at thirty. When Violet moved away, their friendship ended and she thought nothing of their pact. That is until the day of her thirtieth birthday when her magic makes her go to the courthouse and she ends up saying "I do" to Silas. To make matters worse, Silas moves into her home, forcing her to watch her hot husband chop wood and wear grey sweatpants all the time (such a hardship). Silas is supposed to be her enemy, but Violet can't help but fall for her husband.
If you want something fun for the Halloween season, this is the book for you. I enjoyed the world that Sarah created. It gave me original Charmed meets The Vampire Diaries meets The Original vibes and I was so here for it. I thought the relationship development from friend to rivals to lovers was done well. This development paid off in Chapter 42, which had me in tears and broke my heart. But Sarah brought it all back together in the end. I liked the different point of views that we got. Thorin was not playing around with Silas and exasperated him to no end, which I loved. And Walter is a king and had me laughing quite a few times.
I'm very excited for the rest of the series and can't wait to see how Sarah further develops this world.
Thank you to Sarah for the early copy!
