More Than This
by Patrick Ness
Go in blind.
Don't read anything about this book beforehand. Don't look at themes or reviews or spoilers.
You won't know what's going on for most of this book, and that's how it's supposed to be. It unfolds like an uncertain dream, and what's actually happening isn't the point, not until much later.
This is one of the most human stories I've ever read.
It's beautiful and poignant and it made me cry more than once, out of sadness, out of shock, and out of something inexplicable that's wrapped up in the title.
Go read it.
