Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools by Jonathan Kozol

5.0

I read this during a college sociology class. It wasn't required reading. It was one of a few books I read about education as material for an essay I was writing for the class. As far as I can remember, this was the only nonfiction book that I've read that made me cry. Even though my profile doesn't list all I've read, I haven't read that many nonfiction works overall. I still have the essay, and indeed all my college work, and some work prior to that. At the time I had been talking online with someone from what was at the time one of the wealthiest and most exclusive communities in the United States and I thought it'd be a wonderful idea to ask them their thoughts on relevant matters. I then included some of them verbatim in the essay without informing them that I had done so, which I really probably shouldn't have, on any count.
