Reckless by Lauren Roberts

So while this book took place in only a short amount of time on the tumultuous journey of Kai and Paedyn traveling back to Ilya, it somehow also felt extremely long. I was really surprised that Lauren was able to have the entire book literally only take place in the span of Kai and Paedyn traveling back to Ilya and still have it be so engaging. While at times I was a bit bored and wished a bit more had happened instead of the entire book focusing on the journey back, I also think the ending when the two actually enter the kingdom and all the drama that entails was probably the most effective arc. Kai continues to absolutely rock me to my core with his absolutely love for Pae and the beautiful way Lauren writes his monologues never fails to make me tear up. I honestly am probably looking forward the most to Kit’s villain arc, and I really hope Lauren leans into this. I’ll be disappointed if she doesn’t at least explore it a little bit. The theories for the next book are absolutely running rampant in my head. Also, that ending? Absolutely destroyed and ravaged me. Again, Kai’s perspective here was absolutely heartwrenchingly and achingly poignant. I am so excited for Fearless and if Pae and Kai do not get a happy ending, I will probably hold a revolt haha.
