The Falcon's Malteser by Anthony Horowitz

3.0

I have already read and thoroughly enjoyed two of Horowitz’s series; however I had not yet read the diamond brothers’ series as it is aimed at a younger audience. However, while home for Easter I was browsing my sister’s bookshelves for some light reading and came across these books and decided to give then a go.
I am aware that these books are aimed at a younger audience and will therefore not go into the fact that the plot was very simple and the characters rather two-dimensional.
The story itself was fairly interesting; as detective stories go it is always pleasing to be able to figure some things out before the detective. I guessed that
Spoilerthe woman deliberately left the maltesers behind in the office so that when she went back to get them she could do something to enable her to reach the diamonds first.

I found Tim’s character annoying, so was rather pleased that the book focussed on Nick and featured in little of the story. Nick’s character was alright, he has a sense of humour which, while not always funny, was interesting to see the puns that Horowitz had written for him.
This book receives three stars, because while fairly good it is rather below my age category and therefore not as interesting as it could have been if it was instead a book for young adults.
