I think I have officially become too old for young adult romance. The high school drama and teenage angst just does not interest me anymore, and I mainly find it highly annoying. The friendship drama on both Arthur and Ben's ends was just uninteresting and overly dramatic to me -- although Dylan is my favorite character, he's a legend. I appreciated how carefully and realistically the book tackled different issues like homophobia, self-doubt, jealousy, racial identity, class, and even adult relationships (although that one was quickly resolved). I've seen a lot of people complain about the ending, but I actually thought it fit the story and the message much better than a HEA would have, and for that I give it props. Teenage me probably would've been all over this book; and that's the problem. Overall this book was perfectly fine, but it just wasn't for me.
