Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

5.0

Originating from a non-english speaking country, I had not study this in class so I suppose I had a more unstudied and over-interpreted experience.
I can see why the book is a classic. The writing is amazing.
Charlotte Bronte is close to a walking dictionary although this is put into good use to achieve the best descriptions without being snobbish about it.
However, I have to say, the plot itself did not fascinate me. Although the character is independent and strongly loyal to her own beliefs without being afraid to express them, she, somehow, felt a bit bland.
It might have been because when hearing the mentioning of the character she was played as such a high level that it did not match my expectations.
The reading of the book itself is great but I did expect more from the narrative itself.
5 stars because of the impressive nature of it but would not be anywhere near as keen on reading it again as other "5-star books" I have read.
