This book was not for me! The most interesting part about this book was the competition and the author was enabled to describe it - I was expecting complex spells, hand gestures, and descriptions of the results but I was left with minor explanations. I didn't feel the urgency or danger - it lacked so much in my aspect. More, there were moments when I didn't know where the characters were or who was talking - I had to re-read multiple times. Also, the moments that I liked - her romantic progress with Ian, her connection with the House, and her closeness with Laurent - were not explored to the maximum. Everything seemed to be rushed. The chapters seemed long and in the beginning, it was jarring by the overwhelming amount of characters, but later, it was clear on its individuality. The ending was not satisfying - I really hated that Sydney gave her inheritance to Grace, whom she vaguely knew and had no deep connection like Madison or Laurent, or Ian. Any of them would make sense and would have been sweet - I feel a hearty moment was stolen from the story. Overall, this story was not for me, as I said before.
