The League of Gentlewomen Witches
by India Holton
Another brilliant, madcap, playful adventure/romance from India Holton! I loved Charlotte, who lives her life wondering “What Would Jane Austen’s Heroines Do?” and Alex, the gorgeous but troubled Irish pirate and Ned’s bestie. The sheer amount of wordplay in this book was enough to make me love it, but I adored seeing Charlotte figure out what exactly it is that she wanted, stretching outside her comfort zone to befriend pirates and dodge the Wiccan League and even the occasional witch hunter (though I did find it a little odd that this fantasy world wasn’t down with witchcraft when pirates are sailing the skies in enchanted battle-houses, but oh well.) So, so, so much fun.
