Forest of the Pygmies by Isabel Allende

1.0

I am so disappointed. I loved the first two books, so when I found out there was a third, I was very excited. This book was such a letdown- rushed, a forced sense of completion, and a huge change from the books before. This didn't feel true to the characters- they lacked the depth of previous books; the culture dealt with in this book felt less real and more stereotypical; and the whole thing felt rushed. The rules of the world, as established by previous books, we're broken left and right, the danger established at the start was not followed through well, and on the whole, this felt like someone else writing in Isabel Allende's name. What a letdown.
