The Life of Arseniev: Youth by Ivan Bunin

1.0

This was horrible, originally so or because of the translation I have no idea but horrible it was. The subject matter was meh! The style of writing was less than stellar, it read like a telegram: I am a child stop, I have awareness stop, I am young and hence very, very stupid stop. Oy!

Being nostalgic about life in Imperial Russia left me perplexed and I kept thinking 'Really? The U.S.S.R. sucks, yes, but pre-revolution Russia was hell for most of the population.' I felt absolutely nothing for Arseniev and his noble, yet impoverished, family. The whole thing was a mess.
