Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier

3.0

The first page of descriptive language convinced me into reading this book.
I enjoyed it, but I don't think it was particularly special.

There's some honestly top tier scenes, but I felt that not all that much had happened. I felt that Cornelia could've had a little more complexity to her character, rather than the same old annoying and cruel antics. I would have liked to see her sly expression falter a little bit, even to question for a moment what she was doing.

The depiction of the city Delft and dutch customs in 1600s was really appealing. The story also has a historical background, and I think it's worth reading this book if you're interested in art history! Even Antonio Van Leeuwenhoek makes an appearance, for the science history fans.

Overall, 3.5/5
