Hannah-Beast by Jennifer McMahon

3.0

My Rating: 3.5 rounded down to 3⭐️⭐️⭐️ a good little shortie that was spooky without being supernatural!!!

No synopsis on this one was it was only a shortie (approx 68 pages), I went for something I could finish in one sitting and I liked to dig out the Kindle Singles on Kindle Unlimited. This one forms part of the Dark Corners series which is an Amazon Original Short Story. There are 4 or 5 in the series (not related to each other) all designed to be read as standalone short stories.

If you read my reviews you will know I use short stories as palette cleansers, something when I can’t decide on my next read or something that I can read in one sitting. This was the latter for me last night… I wasn’t quite ready for bed but I didn’t want to spend half my reading time choosing my next book!!!

Hannah-Beast is a sad spooky story of childhood bullies and how things can get very out of hand very quickly. It is set at Halloween and the timeline changes between 1982 to 2016, you learn who Hannah-Beast is and what Amanda had to do with her ultimate demise.

The ending was unexpected but not… I was expecting something like what happened but not what actually happened. I did enjoy it I liked the writing and I would go back to see what else Jennifer McMahon has on offer in a full length novel.

Overall if you like a short sharp story that has a bit of a (not so hidden) message about the effects of bullying and guilty consciences this one might be for you!!

I promise this is spooky but not supernatural that is not my jam at all!!
