I usually don’t think it’s fair to judge an adaptation against its source material and vice versa so I’m disappointed in myself for saying that I like the tv show more. At least in this first book. The best parts of the show—Henry and Longmire’s friendship and Vic’s relentless, profanity-laden attempts to deal with her new life in a small town—were present in this and were still great but the story didn’t quite work for me. The show did this particular storyline but it ended differently and, in my opinion, in a much more satisfactory way. I hope I can enjoy the next book a little more.
