Review:
This book is filled with beauty, from the world and history to the characters and magic. Which makes it all the more tragic that there's so much shit to wade through. The first solid quarter (that's over a hundred pages!!) is travelling + exposition dump. And then about 20% of this book is people being racist and swapping war crime stories over and over and over. It's disheartening seeing the loss of so much potential. I am invested and curious enough to continue the series; fingers crossed that the editing is tighter now that all the exposition is over.
