Normally family doesn't grip me, but I really liked the characters from the get go. Celaena was actually a good main character and I liked the love triangle between her, Dorian, and Chaol. I actually liked all the characters and could see why she would be interested in both of them for different reasons.
In terms of plot, I thought it moved a bit slowly and I pretty much knew who the killer was the minute someone was murdered, but I really liked the world building.
I'm excited to keep reading this series and see where Celaena's story goes.
