The writing feels a lot like Douglas Adams’ but with more gore and death and less aliens.
I’m not sure what exactly makes it science-fiction though?? I know they’re like in space and travelling from planet to planet but it still seems like an afterthought to me, even with the futuristic Earth theory. Unless it’ll be more explored in the next books? idk. I didn’t feel like the world building was thrown in my face like other fantasy/sci fi books so it was easy to understand for me.
Overall, I loved the book until the end action scene. I found it was unnecessarily long and made finishing the book so much more unpleasant. I do love the lesbians though. Don’t know what the fuck happened at the end there, but I think there’s no way that Gideon will stay stuck inside Harrow (ha ha sex joke).
