4.5

This is the third book and 80% of it is information busting, uncovering riddles and secrets, and plot set ups for how the fourth book is going to go. The last 10-15% of the book was honestly the most gripping and exciting part of the book. The twists and betrayals really had me gooped and gagged, although I predicted some of the betrayals I was still shook when they happened.

I honestly don’t know how this author does it, with creating female characters who are on another level of frustrating and irritating. This is mostly aimed at Scarlett and Talywn.

When it comes to Scarlett, I truly do not understand how she can let her abuser so close to her all the time. I was left feeling like she just doesn’t fight back enough when it comes to Mikale, even towards the end of the book. Like she’ll talk back or whatever, and I don’t expect her to kill this man any time soon because he seems like such a big player in the overall plot, but there are little things I think she could do to fight back or at least resist a little bit, like why are we making things easy for him??? It really had me contemplating a lot if Scarlett finds some kind of comfort in Mikale. Like Stockholm syndrome or something. Also she just does not make good decisions ever and she stresses me out so much. I also cannot stand that she is supposed to be this extremely talented and powerful assassin and yet she is always getting caught up. Like how am I supposed to believe she is the deadliest person in the entire world, but this girl can’t think of what the consequences of her actions would be? And she doesn’t let any one help her and OMG there are so many things about her that are just so frustrating!! She does eat down in the end of the book so that was nice, but I am still not necessarily convinced, but out of the two queens I am definitely on Scarlett’s side.

Talwyn?? Probably a bit more frustrating than Scarlett. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I’m just going to say that she is very insecure and as someone who is supposed to be the queen of 2 out of the 4 Fae courts, she is an incredibly selfish person regardless of what she says to convince herself that she is making the best choices. I cannot stand this girl and Azrael deserves better. That’s all I got to say on that.

Overall the story is still interesting, I really like figuring out the ties between each new bit of information and how it plays out in the Legacy series. These books are so good that, even through all the information dumping, and me deciding I want to take a break from the series, their endings always have me heavy sighing and immediately cracking open the next book. Melissa when I catch youuuu 😭😭😭
