sagasmith 's review for:
Snow Crash
by Neal Stephenson
The opening paragraph (which runs more than a page) is a staccato, machine-gun riff of background and exposition, and sets the tempo for the entire novel. The main characters (not to say protagonists) are a skate courier and a virtual-reality samurai, supported by a cast of drug dealers, government agents, J-pop stars, Pakistani store managers, and a one-man nuclear power. If you can read the first three pages and put it down, you're a better man than I, Gunga Didn't. Take a deep breath and don't make any plans.
