The Marvelous Land of Oz
by L. Frank Baum
adventurous
fast-paced
It was a bit of a weird read. This book exists in a strange place between trying to be feminist and some internalized misogyny.
There were some amusing quotes but the ending left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not trans, so I can't say much about it and maybe I'm way off, but the ending didnt sit well with me, mostly Glinda.
Baby Ozma was transformed into a boy and raised as Tip. At the end they want to turn them back. Tip doesnt want to, so Glinda pretty much says 'You will be a girl and you will like it otherwise it would be a lie', and 'only evil people know how to change others genders/sex'. And then Tip agrees to give it a chance and turn back if they dont like it. It still felt to me like Glinda was calling being trans evil and lies.
