I loved the ending for this one! Although having an inkling of what it might look like from the beginning, it still wasn't any less enjoyable to watch it unfold 😍❤🔥 These characters were filled with love and passion, with bravery and determination, with devotion and sacrifice, with hope for a better future ❤

Devian was such an interesting character. So purely kindhearted and free of any maliciousness. Giving so much more than he would dare to take. All for the wellbeing of his people and the prosperity of their kingdom ❤ I found his transition from the mysterious and recluse Lord Fenwood character Katria had come to know as her new husband, to Dreamsong's rightful heir to the throne rather fascinating 😍 of course, after his cover was blown, his initial care and softness towards Katria also seemed to fade at first, giving way to anger and resentment. After learning what was at stake, his mannerisms were understandable, although not fully justified. But he made up for his coldness towards his wife at the end, proving he could be an exceptional king ❤

Katria had developed philophobia, the fear of loving or being loved. She'd lost her mother at a very young age, and then witnessed her father transform into a shell of a man he once was, after sharing vows with a woman who was as bitter and heartless as they come 💔 This FMC experienced the worst kind of abuse. Both mental and physical, which wore her down a little, but not quite. Katria didn't know what to expect from a man who bought her — as if she were nothing more than an item — in exchange for the last remnant of her mother's memory, but finding love and a found family was certainly not on her mind while leaving the only place she'd ever known as home.

Such a beautiful book ❤
