I Saw a Man by Owen Sheers
3.0

One of the slowest books I have ever read (skimmed through). It's not just that much of it happened on one day, but you would read for pages and nothing happened. I quickly got to the point where I wanted to figure out what was going on, which wasn't difficult to predict, but didn't want to invest a lot of time in it.

Well apparently I read this book a little over three years ago and three years later remembered nothing about it. Nothing. I don't think I have ever done that before; there is always something I recognise however long ago I read it. I had no idea until I found my earlier review. So I guess my three stars was justified. I stand by what I wrote above and did the same thing - enjoyed the beginning and then began to skim as things continued to evolve so slowly. I think that this time I might have appreciated the structure of the book more; it was pretty clever but I think, too long, too introspective in some ways. And there's the whole part involving Daniel that I'm not sure adds a lot. Maybe without it, as a shorter book (not that it was particularly long) I would have found it more successful/enjoyable.
